The Socially Intelligent Leader
This 8-hour interactive seminar introduces the trainee to a skills-based approach for developing socially intelligent leadership skills. The instructor will introduce the audience to the concepts involved in becoming a socially and emotionally intelligent leader while demonstrating many key skills and behaviors essential to effectively handle leadership challenges. Many demonstrations will involve class participation and interaction. Trainees will learn
- that 67-85% of our competencies in the workplace are related to our social and emotional competencies, not our IQ (intelligence quotient);
- the different types of intelligences and how they contribute to our abilities to lead;
- how our senses inform us about our environment and contribute to our decision making behaviors;
- what Human Technology is and why socially intelligent leaders want to know how to be a Human Technologist;
- how socially and emotionally “fit” they are through self-assessment;
- the different ways to verbally communicate or respond and how each contributes to effective leadership communication;
- what nonverbal communication skills are and how they contribute to successful leadership communication;
- the importance of observation and listening skills and how their senses (e.g., sight, hearing) contribute to how they behave as leaders;
- the impact of emotion on the ability to lead;
- what an emotion vocabulary is and how it can contribute to successful conflict negotiation;
- the difference between social, emotional, and intellectual leading.
