Description
Most training programs conducted in correctional settings have focused on security or custody skills such as conducting counts, shake-downs, riot control, and report writing. But today’s correctional setting requires more than “logistics” training. It requires the ability to manage the people involved – including the inmates. When you consider the ratio of officers to inmates, the physical proximity of staff to inmates, and the importance of the relationships and communications between staff and inmates to the overall operation of the facility, it seems impossible to ignore the need for the correctional officer to learn effective human management skills.
This program is based on correctional officer training programs that have been successfully implemented in federal and state correctional systems – programs that present specific skills in a way that you can learn them, practice them, and make real change in the way you manage yourself and others in a correctional setting.
